Bestwest Building were recently carrying out a Construction Progress Inspection at brickwork & roof frame stage when Mark found a serious issue regarding the installation of tile battens.

It may not seem like much in the photos below however where the tile battens have been fixed to the roof frame, the nails used have been overdriven and subsequently damaged the tile batten, compromising the effectiveness of the nails where many nails are no longer holding the tile batten to the roof frame. This is the case on approximately 40% of the roof frame! (Be sure to see the larger photos at the bottom of blog)

This will require all of the damaged tile battens to be replaced and fixed correctly!

This is a great reminder why you must get Construction Progress Inspection’s throughout your build as this is simply something that would go unnoticed if no inspections were carried out! 38 years of building experience allowed Mark to spot this as soon as he started inspecting the roof frame!
