Termite Barriers
Make The Smart Choice And Protect Your Home With Our Termite Barrier Treatment
Every Western Australian home should have a preventative termite treatment to keep them safe. Unfortunately, these are often overlooked, and termites can attack any home, whether a timber-framed home or a slab and brick construction home. Contrary to popular belief, termites have a much higher chance of entering a house built on a concrete slab as the area in contact with the soil is much greater than a home built on timber stumps with a subfloor.
BestWest Pest Control offers a range of termite barrier treatments to keep you and your family safe from these pests. Our expert pest managers will assess your home individually to find the best treatment for your property.
Preventative Termite Treatments
Our termite barrier treatment involves applying a liquid solution to your home's perimeter to kill and repel termites. Most preventative termite treatments last around five years, so this process must be done periodically to protect your home.
We want you to feel confident in our termite protection, so our treatments are pet friendly and environmentally safe. We only use industry-leading products and do not risk a less effective termite barrier to slightly lower costs.
For termite barrier treatments
Two chemicals are generally used as preventative termite treatments: a ‘Non-Repellent’ and a ‘Repellent’. Termidor is a ‘non-repellent’ chemical and is widely regarded as the best-performing product for Termite Management in Australia. It is strongly recommended for homes with a history of infestation or at high risk of future infestation.
The main benefit of using Termidor is that it does not kill off Termites that come into contact with the treatment zone immediately. This allows them to pass on the chemical they’ve been exposed to, to other colony members as they travel to and from their nest approximately every 24 hours. This process is called the ‘Transfer Effect’ and can potentially eliminate an entire colony of Termites.
Some companies will offer a much cheaper product classified as a ‘Repellent’, meaning that Termites can detect it in the soil and intentionally avoid it, potentially finding an unprotected area around the home and entering through there.
You can be assured that our treatments are carried out safely, ensuring the safety of children and animals. They are conducted in accordance with the Australian Standards using products that have been developed with the protection of the environment in mind.
Risks of termite activity
If you miss the signs of a termite or any other timber pest, the damage can be severe, and repairs are costly. In addition, most home, contents, and building insurance may not cover termite damage repair. That’s why getting ahead of the issue with a preventative termite treatment is crucial.
