A termite barrier is essential for all homes in Western Australia however these are often overlooked by home owners. Termites have the ability to attack any home, regardless of whether it is a timber framed home or a slab and brick construction home. Contrary to popular belief, termites actually have a much higher chance of entering a home which is built on a concrete slab as the area in contact with the soil is much greater than a home built on timber stumps with a subfloor.
At Bestwest Building & Pest we only use the industry leading products and do not risk a less than adequate Termite Barrier just to lower the cost slightly. To generalize, there are two types of chemicals which are either a ‘Non-Repellent’ or a ‘Repellent’. Termidor is a ‘non-repellent’ chemical and is widely regarded as the best performing product available for Termite Management in Australia by the entire industry and is strongly recommended for homes with a history of infestation or at high risk of future infestation.
The main benefit of using Termidor is that it does not kill off Termites that come into contact with the treatment zone immediately which allows them to pass on the chemical they’ve been exposed to, to other members of the colony as they travel to and from their nest approximately every 24 hours. This process is called the ‘Transfer Effect’ and has the ability to potentially eliminate an entire colony of Termites. We refuse to use any generic version of this product as the patented formulation of Termidor is believed to be responsible for it’s great performance.
Some companies will offer a much cheaper product which is classified as a ‘Repellent’ meaning that Termites can detect it in the soil and intentionally avoid it, potentially finding an unprotected area around the home and entering through there. For this reason we use refuse to offer any ‘Repellent’ product. Many companies are prepared to offer this product because it is generally lower in price, however it is a significant compromise on performance in our view and for these reason’s we refuse to offer it for these treatments.
You can be assured that our treatments are carried out in a safe manner ensuring the safety of children and animals and they are conducted in accordance with the Australian Standards using products that have been developed with the protection of the environment in mind.
